About This Service

Termite Control in Yuma County

Subterranean termites are silent and relentless. They tunnel up through soil into wood framing, drywall paper, and structural beams — and most Yuma homeowners don't realize they have them until visible damage appears. By then, repair costs vastly exceed prevention.

Treatment is either liquid termiticide (a continuous chemical barrier trenched around the foundation) or in-ground bait stations (monitored and refreshed quarterly). Both approaches work; the right choice depends on construction type, infestation severity, and access. We walk you through the trade-offs after the inspection.

Why It Matters in Yuma

Built for the Local Climate

Yuma's soil stays warm year-round, so termites are active 12 months a year. Older neighborhoods — north Yuma, downtown, parts of historic Mesa del Sol — and slab-on-grade construction face the highest risk. Newer subdivisions aren't immune either; soil disturbance during construction can introduce colonies.

Most importantly: subterranean termite damage is rarely covered by homeowners insurance. Prevention costs a fraction of repair. We've replaced sub-floor framing on Yuma homes whose owners assumed insurance would cover it. It almost never does.

Service FAQs

Questions Yuma Homeowners Ask

  • What are the signs of a subterranean termite infestation?

Mud tubes on foundation walls or piers (pencil-thin dirt tunnels), swarmer wings on windowsills or near doors after spring rains, blistered or sagging wood, and hollow-sounding baseboards when tapped. If you see any of these in Yuma, schedule an inspection.

  • Liquid termiticide vs. bait stations — which is better?

Liquid creates a continuous barrier in the soil and works fastest for active infestations. Bait stations are slower but lower-disturbance and ideal for prevention or homes that can't be trenched. We recommend based on what we find, not what's easiest to sell.

  • Is termite treatment safe for kids and pets?

Yes. Modern termiticides are non-repellent and applied below grade or inside bait stations. Once the application is complete, normal use of the home resumes — there's nothing in the living space to avoid.

  • How long does a termite treatment last?

A liquid soil treatment with full perimeter coverage typically protects for 5–7 years before re-treatment is recommended. Bait stations are an ongoing program — we monitor and refresh them quarterly as long as service continues.

  • What does your written warranty cover?

Re-treatment at no cost if termite activity reappears in the treated area within the warranty period. The exact terms (duration, scope, exclusions) are spelled out in writing before any work begins. Some plans also include repair coverage.

  • What's the difference between subterranean and drywood termites?

Subterranean termites live in soil and tunnel up — that's what Yuma has. Drywood termites live in the wood itself and don't need soil contact (mostly a coastal problem). If you've been told you have drywood termites in Yuma, get a second opinion.
